ENJOYMENT: ***½ (out of 4)
"Great biopic & thoroughly entertaining"
Even as a child of the 80s, I somehow missed out on NWA. Still, of course, I knew Ice Cube, Easy E, Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, and Snoop Dogg, but from their later stuff. Therefore, Straight Outta Compton was incredibly enlightening in telling their story, from rags to insane riches, and all of the dysfunction along the way. The acting, directing and music were all incredible. Somehow they included nearly a dozen characters and it never felt too cluttered. Since most of these guys are still alive though, I was left wondering whether they really went into all the gory details of how extreme their lives got.
